If you want to change a value, but the field is grayed out, then you will need to bring this up with your IT team.
The screenlayout rule may have this field set to display.
Click on the Time dependent tab and change the cost center or any other info.
Similiarly, click on the tab on which the field you want is located. If you are not sure, then you can click on all the tabs until you find the field.

The issue might be due to a change we made.
This will tell us who/what changed on the asset.
You can click on enironment- Screen Layout to see which screen layout is used with this asset.
Select the screen layout and click on logical field groups.
This has the different sections like general data, posting info etc.
Select the item from the right and click on the field group rules to see if a field is set to display, change or suppress.
