Trigger-use this tcode when you are scrapping the asset i.e. retiring the asset wihout any revenue.
Use the menu path-
Accounting -> Financial Accounting -> Fixed Assets -> Posting -> Retirement -> ABAVN – Asset Retirement by Scrapping
or use the tcode ABAVN
Note- The asset value date has to be after the capitalization date. Obviously you cannot retire an asset before it was capitalized.
Document Date – This should be the formal notice date.
Posting Date – This should default to today date.
Asset Val. Date – Enter in the value from the Posting Date field.
Text – Use this for any notes about the asset.
Click on the partial retirement tab.
In the Amount posted box, enter an amount only if you are retiring part of the asset, else leave it blank and SAP will retire the entire amount.
Select the prior year acqusitions tab if the acqusition was in a year before the current one, else select the curren year acqusitions tab.
Click on the simulate icon.
You can view the transaction that SAP will post
Once everything looks good, click on save
you can go to AW01N to view the postings made by this retirement.
Complete retirement of an asset
This would work the same way as a partial retirement.
Enter the asset number along with the document date, invoice date and asset value date.
Click on simulate
Click on save.
Note- You can add additional info on the other tabs just like we did for the partial retirement.
you do not enter any amount in the partial retirement tab for a complete retirement.
The document is then posted.
